" People :
You need tax dollars to pay the bills.

Your taxes are not going down, and you must find a way to find more money to pay for the schools and town services.

Not everyone is helping to pay.

You must charge apartment renters something to send their dchildren to our schools, a fee for town services. Not fair that property owners are the only ones paying.
If you dont do something then stop complaoning and pay up.

Your taxes are not coming down.

New schools are being built, no $$$ limit -architects want their name on a new design and project- use a model and save mony ,if not pay up. "

" I truly understand the disappointment with Christie and his "no proposal" campaign . . . sat on what he/they thought was an insurmountable lead based on general discontentment with NJ taxes/spending and Corzine's sliminess.
.
But before he was nominated, remember Christie was EXTREMELY powerful and effective -- an amazing record of indicting and convicting 100's of crooked politicians throughout the State. Would have nailed McGreevey too.
.
And he refused to supplicate before the "stand behind the children as we extort the local taxpayers" NJEA for an endorsement that of course was never going to come to him.
.
But, to me, getting rid of the incumbent, except for very few of our officials, is the most important thing. The Codey-Coleman-Corzine Democrats have meant continued high spending, extra high pensions for the politically connected and a continuing exodus of jobs and taxpaying wage earners from NJ.
.
While I don't know if NJ's Republicans truly have a better plan, they deserve a chance. Dump Corzine. Dump Bonnie Coleman.
.
They've done a lousy job and don't deserve to be rehired. Sigh, yes, I will vote for Christie. "

But unions expect raises--it's always more! more! more! with them. Break the back of the unions. End the practice of teachers and state employees cashing in their unused sick time when they retire. Adopt a "use it or lose it" policy. It will save the state millions.
There are many ways to cut spending and increase revenue for the state. We need a governor with the spine to make the necessary decisions for the good of the people of New Jersey. Corzine is not that person. "

OverTAXed in wrote on Oct 31, 2009 11:11 PM:

" This Tuesday we voters have the best opportunity to send a message to our elected officials about all the problems we have here in NJ. This is a serious responsibility please dont forget about some of the poor voting and bad decisions that our local officials have made in the past few years that have raised our taxes, made it harder to send our kids to NJ schools and caused many of our employers to move out of NJ.

I'd like to talk about one that is particularly damaging for NJ, its a new tax called COAH3 that our Gov Corzine promotes at the cost of loosing more jobs and higher property taxes for all.

If your not familiar with COAH3 its a mandated buildup of tax subsidized housing in each township in NJ. The idea is honorable, but our implementation very flawed. More then 100 municipalities in NJ have filed a lawsuit against this, including all townships in Central NJ, like Princeton, West Windsor, S Brunswick, Hamilton, Monroe, Cranbury, Plainsboro, etc.

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2008/06/nj_towns_mobilizing_against_ne.html

S Brunswick 4,068 Subsidized Houses
Hamilton 2,704 Subsidized Houses
W Windsor 2,711 Subsidized Houses
Plainsboro 1,778 Subsidized Houses
Cranbury 493 Subsidized Houses
Jamesburg 136 Subsidized Houses
=========================
Total 17,940 more COAH houses in district 14

On average each new family who moves into these tax subsidized houses has on ave 2.3 children they send to the local schools, so our property taxes will have to rise to pay for the additional schools, roads, and government infrastructure for all these new families. Your township is forced to build these homes right after the Nov elections, since its an unfunded mandate, your own local property taxes will have to pay for most of the building of these homes, and support infrastructure.

Ask yourselves, why do only a lucky few who win the COAH lottery get to buy a new home in your own neighborhoods for 50%/70% less then you did? Why does Corzine support a failed program like COAH that only helps the construction unions and a very few lucky winners of the COAH lottery, at the expense of more property taxes for the rest of us homeowners in Central NJ?

COAH3 is also a tax on small and big business alike if they move to NJ to start a new business or even grow an existing one.

If you are fed up with higher taxes and wasteful spending in NJ because of all these unfunded mandates, vote Corzine and his Assembly supporters out of office like my wife and I will. He has done more harm then good for us hard working taxpayers of NJ. Join us to make a change in NJ government this November. " "

They don't know that Corzine's party is trying to cut money for Seniors or that his message seems unopposed because he has TONS of money to spend, and lies oft repeated take hold. " Corzine has had 4 years we can not afford another 4. His record speaks for itself. He failed!

NJ has high taxes because unions like the NJEA keep getting their membership salary increases not because of high paying private sector jobs. No where else in this country are salary's and pension plans for public employees this generous.

I have nothing against salary increases but when the State is billions of dollars in debt, the State unemployment level is at 9.8% (mostly private sector jobs lost) and homeowners are losing their homes like never before you don't tell your membership to fight for salary increases. NJEA President Joyce Powell is out of touch with reality.

The NJEA and other state union’s leadership need to look around at their communities. This isn’t the 1990's; people are losing their homes, just barely keeping their jobs and keeping food on the tables and yet the union leadership seems to think they're still entitled to salary increases.

If you're curious why taxes are high take a look at the public payroll. "

Recognizing the pension and health care bind that NJ is in as a result of previous administrations, he has capped pensions, asked state workers to contribute toward health care premiums, and increased their retirement age. Obviously, this doesn't make everyone happy. However, it shares the burden and makes for a much more fiscally responsible state.

At the same time under his leadership, much needed road and bridge projects are now under way with the help of TARP dollars. Classroom funding and performance has improved and the # of children that now have health insurance have increased. "

Mark Levin's analysis of Obama before the election was seen as far-fetched, though EVERYTHING he said came to pass in the first year, and unbelievably even worse with many Marxists in the inner circle of the White House. Chris Christie was not my first choice as a challenger, but he looks mighty good now in comparison. "

" Corzine and Weinberg! Gov Corzine must be re-elected. We are in trying times and, as the previous comment said, he has a good relationship with the current administration. A new administration in NJ now will complicate things. However, my main reason for not voting for Christie is that he is not Pro Choice and even more than that, while Corzine does believe in a woman's right to choose, Christie seems to want to make abortions illegal and that scares me. Corzine cares - family leave, health insurance, preschool are all good things. "

" I am voting for Jon Corzine. He is the best qualified candidate to get NJ through these hard economic times. Just this year, the budget adopted was 1.8 billion less than his 2006 budget.

He has an excellent relationship with the President & the majority in Congress which will help ensure NJ gets its fair share of aid. Under President Bush, NJ was neglected.

Corzine understands the importance of education & puts money into it. He successfully challenged the way schools got funding & now the money is distributed more fairly across the state. He's increassed classroom funding. Under him, performance standards were raised. He values early childhood education.

He expanded the eligibility for the Senior Freeze for property taxes which made 70,000 additional residents to get property tax relief.

He increased the by 90,000 the # of children who now have health insurance. Under him NJ got Family Leave.

He's a good job under under the most trying of times and will continue to do so. "

" Christie was named U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey in 2002. He drew national attention for his efforts in battling corruption. I appreciate his efforts. However, governing requires a completely different skill set. He may be a great governor but we can't afford to take the risk that he won't be up to the task. Re-tooling the entire State in the midst of the current economy is too risky.

Corzine a business executive and a U.S. Senator reshaped and resized state government, eliminated and consolidated departments, sold state cars, tore up gas cards and closed office buildings; reduced the state workforce by 7,000 employees; achieved additional savings by increasing the retirement age from 55 to 62, capping pensions, and asking state workers to contribute for the first time toward the cost of their health care. This year, he negotiated a 7.5 percent wage cut for public employees. No wonder so many people are mad at him. But he did this for the good of the entire state. It wasn’t malicious it was necessary. The budget that he signed into law on June 29th is $1.8 billion smaller than the first budget he signed in 2006 "

" I think that the time for an Independent is at hand.

People are screaming bloody murder that taxes are too high, businesses are being pushed out due to tax structure, and all manner of other bloat and inefficiency are running up the state's debt.

Then, for Pete's sake, get out there and CHOOSE SOMEONE NEW who is beholden to neither party or its bosses!

Regardless of where you live, the business of politics sucks from the top on down; that is why this state (and our country) is in the shape it's in -- because the electorate have let it become so.

So do yourself and the state a favor -- vote for Daggett for governor and send a LOUD MESSAGE that both extremes are not the answer for New Jersey. "

Cut property taxes by rebates? That is just a gimmick and really doesn't cut taxes.
Do they really believe we are that dumb?

I guess so they do. "

" Where to begin? New Jersey is a disaster, highest taxed state, most corrupt state and worse governor in the nation. Jon Corzine does not deserve another term, his payoffs to Carla Katz and her brother-in-law are enough to remove him from office. The Demcrot Party should be ashamed the nominated him for a second term.

The collussion between the Corzine campaign and the Daggett campaign is another major issue. It appears he resort to whatever it takes to win?

Chris Christie and Kim Guadagno, two former federal prosecutors should be elected to clean-up the filthy mess Corzine has left us. "

I had planned to vote for Christie, although I do not agree with some of his viewpoints. Then I took a look at Daggett. I agree with more of his stands on the issues than Christie's, and I don't have to vote for Corzine. Daggett's numbers have gotten to the point where he is a viable choice, and not just a spoiler. So it's Daggett for me next Tuesday. "

Ron Bogdan wrote on Oct 27, 2009 3:58 PM:

" You know next week we will be voting for and electing a Governor here in NJ.

At this point in reality with three credentialed candidates, the next Governor of NJ will likely be elected with less than 50% of the popular vote. That is the math of it. Less than 50% of the voters. We have the citizens of NJ, eligible voters, registered voters, and then finally interested voters. After going through that many filters the successful candidate will be elected with less than half the votes of the interested voters here in NJ.

Let me tell you why in just can not end up being Jon Corzine. The sitting Governor in any state has a distinct advantage. His resume should be his election platform. Instead Governor Corzine has used scare tactics every step of the way to sway votes his way, about why you should not elect his opponent.

Reelecting a Governor is a "MANDATE". It is a vote of confidence, or a reward for a job well done. Corzine has done a terrible job, so much so, even he can not use the job he has done as a platform for reelection, he must resort instead to scaring you off his opponent. Asking for a mandate should have the Governor having a resume that is resplendent, not spending his time scaring you about electing his opponent. The Governor is the one candidate of the three that we can not allow to get this job with less than 50% of the interested voters. After going through that many filters we can not give a mandate to a man who has bungled the job so badly.

Change is necessary here in NJ. If someone gets the job with less than 50% it should be someone who gets the benefit of the doubt, and that is Chris Christie. He is the only viable choice and chance for change in the politics as usual of NJ. Corzine is nothing more than proof that if you are filthy rich and throw enough of your money at any elected position it can be obtained. We can not reward a second term or mandate to this method of thinking. Make the necessary change next week and cast your vote for a different way of doing business. We can not afford another 4 years of the Jon Corzine, NJ may never recover if we give this man our mandate. "

Something is wrong and none of the others will address it. "
