" patty, i wanted to commend u for your compassion and hope more are like us. u go girl! my grandma went thru 10 years of it, and decorum rules to say what my mom and i did to take care of her on a long weekend when the nurses were overwhelmed. im a changed person to see this vibrant, strong, wise, woman, grandma reduced to this, that is what gets me, how she would never wanted 4 children payin a grand each a month to keep her in a nursing home.

i had a 2nd issue to go with yours. can anyone at the princeton packet or bloggers tell, me what happened with the CONGO case? guy james had a shoplifting case 4/28/09 for stealing 722 dollars of food from my shoprite. the trail goes cold, no reporting, no nothin, i gots to know PB, let me know, peace, out, bird "

" The Socialist agenda is using all of the tactics that were used by the soviet socialist goverments of the past. The lies and misrepresentations serve to force unwanted agenda items on the American people. Americans no longer feel that it is the responsibility of the government to provide healtchcare. The majority of Americans do not want the government involved in their care or their relationship with their healthcare providers. And the Special interest endorsements are suspect at best. It is akin to AARP supporting health care reform because they will be able to sell more gap insurance after Medicare gets cut to the bone.

Yesterday the perfect example of why EVERYONE should be fighting against a single payer system was announced by the "Government Taskforce". They announced that "women should not get screening mammograms before age 50 and should only get mammograms every other year after age 50". This was also touted by a government taskforce in the late 1990's under the Clinton Administration at that time. The reality is that the recommendation is in exact opposition to what should be done.

EVERY WOMEN SHOULD GET MAMMOGRAPHY ON AN ANNUAL BASIS STARTING AT AGE 40.

The scientific information has shown that overwhelmingly that the American model for screening for breast cancer has been very successful at catching breast cancer early enough that we can often cure it. The Canadian and Swedish studies touted by those opposed to mammography and breast cancer screening from the 1990s was shown to be less effective because of the way those studies were performed and becausethey were screening women for breast cancer at 2 to 3 year intervals. This resulted in many breast cancers being too far advnaced before they were detected. This resulted in poorer outcomes. There were also problems with patient selection that resulted from the way the studies were set up.

NOW, we are being asked to support a system where a SINGLE PAYER would be able to force on the public the policies that would undermind the healthcare industry's ability to detect and treat breast cancer in women when we can still make a difference.

Please call your Congressmen and Senators and tell them to kill the Health care bill. There may be some benefits by minimal interventional approaches on healthcare, but as a rule healthcare should not be interfered with. Please let us do what we do best. "

" 31/ Louise, lets see, $60,000,000 in debt and we are still driving on a 1000 foot of dirt road Dutchtown-Zion. This is because of your and Birge's inability to follow through on a standing agreement between Hillsborough and Montgomery to pave unpaved sections of road. This would have been at no cost to Montgomery. Let me repeat - the inability to negotiate a road project previously agreed to with Hillsborough.

What really ticks me off is that Birge wants to move on to bigger things when she can't even get a little road paved that we have to use to get to city hall to pay our taxes that also pays for that ridiculous lake expenditure. We don't need her as a Freeholder after leaving all this debt behind and a dirt road to boot.

That brings to mind the previous comment about Dagget who was the Townships consultant on this lake project. Instead of stonewalling the NJDEP to delay this lake work until a purchaser for the property is found Dagget is probably the one that convinced you to proceed to rebuild the lake to nowhere.

And now Birge wants to do for the County what she did for Montgomery. Good thing we have alterntives. "

YOUR VIEWS: Senate health bill offers serious solutions

" If this bill should passed I hope it has mandatory drug testing for those who think this will really work. Wake up this is a joke this has nothing to do with healthcare. If this was the greatest thing since sliced bread then why are the politicians not opting to join? "

Joanne wrote on Nov 20, 2009 5:22 PM:

" This bill should die ASAP I'm a U.S. citizen living in Canada and the socialized medicine here is very different from what we as Americans are used to. When the government gets involved, it's not good. You can't call a specialist if you want one. Do you want to see a dermatologist? You have to go to your family physician first --- if you can find one! Not all doctors take new patients! Your family doctor will then get you a referral to a specialist. That can take months. You have no control as to WHEN you can see the specialist. The specialist will call you WHEN HE/SHE is available to see you. This is not what we should do to the U.S. system. Individual free choice is not an option under the Canadian system. I know because for 9 years I have lived under this system. This proposed healthcare bill sounds much too similar to what we have in Canada. It's not what you should be wanting as Americans. "
