Here are some athletes who shined during the holiday week.

Guard Bobby Weise nailed nine three-point field goals in leading the Freehold Township High School boys’ basketball team to a 74-66 victory over Manchester in the quarterfinals of the WOBM Classic at Toms River’s Pine Belt Arena.

Weise finished with a game-high 30 points in the victory for the 3-1 Patriots.

Anthony Velazquez pumped in 23 points to lead Long Branch High School’s boys’ basketball team to a 69-64 victory over Bloomfield Tech in the first round of the Holiday Jubilee held at Neptune High School.

The 3-0 Green Wave moved into the tournament semifinals with the victory.

Morenike Akinrefon scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Sayreville High School’s girls’ basketball team to a 52-49 victory over previously undefeated Colts Neck in the quarterfinals of the WOBM Classic played at the Pine Belt Arena in Toms River.

The Lady Bombers are 3-1.

Bishop Ahr’s Lauren Barlow scored her 1,000th career point when the Trojan’s defeated Sayreville, 72-64. Barlow scored a game-high 20 points in the win putting her exactly at 1,000 points.

Bishop Ahr is 2-0.

Ashlyn Petersen netted 17 points, pulled down eight rebounds, made three steals and had two blocked shots in an all around effort that led Monroe High School’s girls’ basketball team to a 54-23 triumph over South Plainfield.

The Falcons have started the season 2-0.

Marlboro High School’s Matt Linder won the boy’s high jump at the Spiked Shoe Holiday Festival at the New Balance Armory in New York City. The jump was not just a new school record for the Mustang but the result is the best jump in the state thus far this winter.

South Brunswick High School’s Tyler Allen scored four goals and assisted on three more in leading the Vikings to an 8-2 victory over Bernards in the opening round of the Protec Ponds Tournament in Somerset.

The Vikings improved to 4-4 on the season.

Brendan Ban assisted on four goals sparking Rumson-Fair haven to a 7-4 victory over Red Bank Regional in a Shore Conference non-division game played at the Red Bank Armory.

The Bulldogs are 5-1 overall and in first place in A Central.
