WEST WINDSOR — Several solar panels at Mercer County Community College’s solar panel field took a hit when a Cranbury resident lost control of his Honda minivan and plowed into them shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday night.
Benjamin T. Hartman, 21, of Cranbury, was driving west on the loop road inside Mercer County Community College at 10:20 p.m. when he failed to follow the road as it curved to the left, according to the West Windsor Township Police Department.
The 2003 Honda Odyssey minivan continued traveling straight off the roadway and over a chain link fence surrounding the solar panel field, police said. The minivan struck a cement foundation block and crashed through two rows of solar panels.
Mr. Hartman, who was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and careless driving, was not injured. He refused medical assistance from West Windsor Emergency Services, which responded to the accident.
