MANALAPAN — Police are searching for two men who tried to steal a hot dog cart on Wilson Avenue (Route 527).
Police said that at 8:44 a.m. Jan. 10, officers responded to 79 Wilson Ave. for a report of two suspects who attempted to steal a hot dog cart/trailer valued at $7,000. The suspects were disturbed by a witness and left the area before stealing the hot dog cart/trailer.
The attempted theft occurred at 8 a.m.
The suspects were described as a white male with a heavy build, about 6-feet, 3-inches tall, possibly in his 40’s, and an Hispanic male described as being about 5-feet, 6-inches tall, with no further description available. The suspects left the area in a green pick-up truck.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Manalapan Police Department. The incident is under investigation by Patrolman Jeff Emslie.
In other incidents reported by police:
• On Jan. 9 at 9:57 a.m., Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis responded to a residence on St. Andrews Place in the Knob Hill development for a report of a theft. A resident told the officer that $2,600 in cash was removed from her home by unknown individuals sometime between Jan. 6 and Jan. 8.
• On Jan. 7 at 2:04 p.m., Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis responded to Classic Furs and Leather, Route 9, for a report of a theft. The officer was informed that $3,480 in cash was removed from the business by unknown individuals sometime between Dec. 27 and Jan. 4.
• On Jan. 6 at 3:39 p.m., Patrolman Sean McCarthy responded to the Luxury Label Consignment Store, Route 9, for a report of shoplifting. An investigation revealed that three black females removed three pairs of shoes and one jacket from the store. The total value of the stolen merchandise is reported as being $2,096. After running out of the store the three suspects were last seen fleeing the area in a black sport utility vehicle.
• On Jan. 4, a female resident of Manalapan reported an attempt made by an unknown male to fraudulently transfer approximately $52,000 from her checking account to a Western Union account in India. The transfer was unsuccessful and the incident is under investigation. Patrolman Aaron Abeles handled the report.
