Area teachers prepare young musicians for Cecilian concert

Several area teachers prepared students for a Cecilian Music Club recital last month.

Jennifer Bao of East Brunswick, Beth S. Chen of Marlboro, Ingrid J. Clarfield of Princeton, Julia Lam of Bridgewater, Chiu-Tze Lin of Manalapan, Lillian Livingston of Manalapan, Marjorie Mollenauer of Colts Neck, Yining Wang of Princeton, Grace J. Yang of Princeton and An-li Young of East Brunswick instructed the group, which performed at the annual Cecilian Young Artist Competition Winners Recital at the Victoria Theater at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark on Dec. 6.

Students of Cecilian Club members must receive high scores during a rigorous audition process in order to perform in the concert.

Chen, who serves as chairwoman of the club, organized both the auditions and the concert.

Piano solos were performed by Ianna Arthur, Jacquelene Chen, Natalie Chow, Jenna Cooley, Melissa Cui, Jackie Eschbach, Melody Fu, Nicholas Gritz, Gracelynne Hao, Anna Hsu, Jeremy Hwang, David Jiang, Kevin Jin, Irene Koc, Jeffrey Koc, Jeremy Li, Grace Liang, Jennifer Liu, Cindy Liu, John Ngnyen, Elizabeth Pang, Andy Pei, Anya Pei, Brian Song, Emma Tian, Alan Wang, Christina Wang, Sarah Wang, Yuying Wang, Rachel Wu, George Yang, Elizabeth Yang, Karina Yang, Tienne Yu, Annie Zhao, and Justin Zhong. Performing piano duets were by Jake Cheng/Jeffrey Koc, Mia Huang/Kyle Huang, Anna Hsu/Cindy Liu, Emily Luo/Melinda Mao, Sarah Vicol/Megan Shanosky, Joshua Yi/Julie Ham and Tienne Yu/Ashley Jiang.

Justin Ham, Julie Ham and Andrew Lee performed a piano trio.

Krystle DiCristofalo and Kristen Redding performed solo harp, and Julia Hu played a solo on the cello. David Winograd played tenor saxophone, accompanied by Aaron Cheng on piano. Sydney Thai played flute, accompanied by Alyssia Liu on piano. Evan Ng, Samantha Ho, Serena Hu and Abbey Zhu performed a flute quartet.
