MONROE – The Township Council unanimously appointed Blaise Dipierro as the Ward 2 councilman at a special meeting on Jan. 12 to fill the position vacated by Gerald Tamburro when he became mayor.
Dipierro is following in the footsteps of his father, Michael Dipierro, who previously served as a Ward 2 councilman and mayor.
The young Dipierro is a lifelong township resident and a small business owner. He is recently retired after spending 25 years in law enforcement with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Sheriff’s Department.
He and his wife Audra have three sons attending Monroe Township schools.
“I want to thank the council for their vote of confidence in me,” Dipierro said. “I’m ready to get started and to learn more about the workings of municipal government. I’ll also be meeting with my friends and neighbors to hear their concerns and see how I can help them.”
Dipierro said he also is excited to continue his father’s legacy.
Council President Leslie Koppel said she is glad to have Dipierro on the council.
“Monroe is gaining a great councilman,” she said. “Blaise’s career in law enforcement brings a fresh perspective to the council. I look forward to working together.”
