The Bennett Indoor Athletic Complex in Toms River is extremely busy at this time of the year hosting indoor track and field meets. On Jan. 22 the Shore Conference Championships will be contested in ‘the Bubble.”
Bragging rights in Woodbridge Township will be at stake on Jan. 23 when Colonia High School hosts a wrestling Tri-meet between John F, Kennedy Memorial, Woodbridge and Colonia.
Jackson Memorial and St. John Vianney are among the wrestling team competing in the Jan. 23 Robin Leff Tournament at Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin.
First place in the Shore Conference B North Division for boys basketball will be on the line on Jan. 22 when Long Branch visits Colts Neck.
It’s the second meeting between the clubs. The Green Wave won the season-opener played in Long Branch.
Two of the best boys basketball teams in the Greater Middlesex Conference square off on Jan. 21 when South Brunswick comes to Old Bridge. Seeding for the GMC Tournament will be at stake.
GMC seeding will also be impacted when South River travels to Spotswood on Jan. 23 for a game between division leaders. Spotswood sits atop the Blue Division and South River, the Gold.
St. John Vianney’s girls basketball team, considered the best team in New Jersey, is facing a pair of formidable challenges back-to-back.
On Jan. 24 the Lancers were scheduled to take on undefeated Lenape at the 97.3 ESPN Girls Basketball Shootout at Hold Spirit High School in Absecon.
The, on Jan. 26, the Lancers travel to Rumson to take on rapidly improving Rumson-Fair Haven, SJV bested RFH in their first meeting back in December, 59-48, at home.
Middletown South High School is also participating in the 97.3 ESPN Shootout. The Eagles are facing undefeated Rancocas Valley on Jan. 24.
Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick is the site for the Joe Romer Memorial Tournament on Jan. 23. For the top bowling teams not there, Ocean Lanes in Lakewood is hosting the Lakewood Scotch Doubles Tournament.
The Robbinsville/Allentown co-op ice hockey team has a chance to win its first Colonial Valley Conference division title this winter. On Jan. 26, the Raven, 6-1 in division games, will play 5-2 Princeton at Lawrenceville High School. A Raven win keeps them in the hunt for first place in the Colonial Division.
Manalapan, 6-5-1, would like to ice hockey state tournament. A win over Shore Conference A North Division rival Howell, 7-5, would go a long way towards securing that. The teams will play at Howell Ice World on Jan. 22.
Howell, 8-5, is looking to improve its post-season seeding.
When the two teams played earlier this season Howell was victorious, 3-1.
