Learn about African foods Feb. 18

Barron Arts Center, 582 Rahway Ave., Woodbridge, is hosting a lecture titled “African Influence in Foods” on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.

Okra, black-eyed peas, and yams are a few of the foods brought to this continent by the African slaves. The influence of African cooking can be seen in the cuisines of the Caribbean, Brazil, New Orleans, and the Deep South. Learn how Africa influenced and inspired many of our favorite dishes. Food historian Judith Krall-Russo will lead the discussion.
