OLD BRIDGE — Incumbent Salvatore DiPrima, former board member Richard J. Dunn and newcomer Jeffrey Dynof were sworn in to their seats on the Old Bridge Board of Education on Jan. 20.
The three board members were the top vote getters in the November school board election. Longtime board member Matthew Sulikowski and incumbent Kevin Borsilli were unsuccessful in their bids for reelection.
Dunn returns to the school board after a one-year hiatus. He lost his bid for re-election in 2014. Dunn is a volunteer firefighter for the South Old Bridge Fire Company. He is an active member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and the Special Education PTA and he has also coached football for the Sayrewood South Rebels.
Dunn has said he will bring accountability and leadership back to the board and will work tirelessly to ensure a fair and equitable solution to balance tax dollars and quality education.
During DiPrima’s tenure on the school board, members have passed three budgets with minimal tax effect on the community while keeping all programs intact, and he was involved with helping to increase school security and with initiating full-day kindergarten.
DiPrima has said he wants to continue to work toward having the school district be recognized as a District of Character and said class size, building infrastructure and additional new housing/student enrollment are always a concern.
Dynoff is a newcomer to the board. He graduated from Old Bridge High School in 2013 and currently attends Rutgers University. While in high school, he was active in the Student Senate and was involved in the Old Bridge Township Environmental Commission.
Board member Donna Andriani was nominated and approved to serve as board president and DiPrima was nominated and approved to serve as vice president at the board meeting.
