South Brunswick police seek information on hit-and-run accident

SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Police are seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the motorist who struck and injured a bicyclist on Feb. 1.

Around 11:30 a.m., a bicyclist was struck at the intersection of Ridge Road and Perrine Road, according to a statement released by the South Brunswick Police Department. The vehicle reportedly continued down Ridge Road to Route 1 without stopping. The bicycle and the vehicle were both traveling west on Ridge Road away from the South Brunswick High School area toward Route 1 at the time of the crash, police said.

Police are describing the accident as a “side-swipe.”

The 64-year-old male victim was transported by South Brunswick EMS and paramedics to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was treated for a head injury and later released, police said.

At the crash scene, police recovered parts of the car that struck the victim, including a passenger’s-side mirror. The vehicle is described as a silver/ grey four-door sedan, the statement said.
