HILLSBOROUGH: College students earn honors

Five Hillsborough residents who are students at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., attained the dean’s list last fall. A student must earn a scholastic average of 3.6 or better while carrying at least 12 hours of regularly graded courses.
The five are Alexander Glass-Hardenbergh, Allison Kent, Brooke Lautt, Pooja Malhotra and Rachel Pallay.

Hillsborough’s Le’Santha Naicker, a senior and environmental studies/international relations major at Albright College in Reading, Pa., is spending several weeks in Hawaii to research the impact that boats, sonar and other noise producers have on whales.
Albright College has a three-week winter interim between the fall and spring semesters, affording students the opportunity to take classes or engage in research on campus, or venture for both independent and faculty-led study opportunities.

Brianna Tramutolo, a senior majoring in marine science from Hillsborough, attained the President’s List at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C., for the fall semester.
Students must earn a 4.0 grade-point average and be enrolled fulltime.

Two Hillsborough students were among the approximately 2,248 students who made the fall semester dean’s list at the university.
They are Stephen Tafaro, a sophomore majoring in intelligence and national security studies, and Kiersten VanCleef, a freshman majoring in exercise and sport science.
To qualify, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade-point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5. Students must be enrolled fulltime.

Jillian B. Kaulius earned the dean’s list at Brevard (N.C.) College for the fall semester. To qualify, students must be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours and have a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. 

AlyssaLynn Held of Hillsborough was named to the dean’s list at Champlain College Burlington, Vt., for the fall semester. Students must have achieved a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. She is majoring in criminal justice.

Widener University in Chester, Pa., said four Hillsborough students were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester. The four, and their majors, are:
Benjamin Klein, a political science major; Madeline Mayes, civil engineering; Tierney Rojas, nursing, and Alexis Schengrund, accounting.

Alexandra L. Degaris, a Hillsborough sophomore majoring in early childhood education and liberal studies at Rowan University, located in Glassboro, earned the dean’s list for the fall semester with a grade-point average of 3.77 on a 4.0 scale. The honor is bestowed on students who have achieved a GPA of 3.45 or higher, based on 12 semester hours of letter grades for a given term.

Students have been named to dean’s list at the University of Delaware, located in Newark, for the fall semester.
A student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.
They are Christian Balancia, Neil Brandwein, Meghan Brower, Madison D’Amico, Courtney Defeo, Lauren DelMaestro, Molly Doyle, Alyssa Fodera, Troy Gacek, Julia Gambogi, Allison Gan, Zoe Getz, Kyle Grant, Amanda Hansen, Caroline Hu, Matthew Johnson, Jessica Kuc, Kathleen Lumia, Rachel Mahalow, Michelle McEnroe, Eline Nijveldt, Pierce Shein and Ruby Sultan.

Nateka Scafe of Hillsborough was named to the fall semester dean’s list at the University of Hartford (Conn.)

Nicole Fazio of Hillsborough has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Alvernia University in Reading, Pa.
Studying occupational therapy, Nicole was a freshman in the fall and is a graduate of Hillsborough High School.
To be eligible, students must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 or better and take a minimum of 12 credits.

Two Hillsborough students were among the more than 540 students receiving a degree from Kutztown (Pa.) University during the summer and fall terms.
Justin Mark Amen received a Bachelor of Arts in political science. Christopher Pomparelli of Hillsborough earned a Bachelor of Science in electronic media.

Jesse Gonzalez of Hillsborough, a junior English major at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester. The list recognizes full-time students who earned a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher for the semester. Jesse is currently studying abroad in Havana, Cuba.

Amanda Muller, a Hillsborough High School graduate in 2014, attained the fall semester dean’s list at The College of New Jersey. She is a nursing major.
Amanda also volunteered during her winter break at Project Homecoming (a nonprofit organization that manages reconstruction of homes in the greater New Orleans area) as part of TCNJ Alternative Break Club.
Megan Muller, a Hillsborough High grad in 2015, earned the dean’s list for the fall semester at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. She is a finance major.
Both schools require a student to carry 12 credits and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
