HOPEWELL: Youth Chorale sings at Brandywine Senior Living

Hopewell Valley Youth Chorale chorister Amelie Bass chats with her new “grand-friend.”

Members of the Hopewell Valley Youth Chorale performed for their “grand-friends” at Brandywine Senior Living on Saturday afternoon, Jan 30. The choristers sang repertoire from their winter concert, “Songs from Above,” of sacred and secular music from past to present and from around the world.
The choir, under the direction of Michele and William Alford, was accompanied on piano by Sándor Kádár, and on cello by Mimi Morris Kim.
The young people were enthusiastically received by the residents with whom the youngsters mingled following the concert. Audience members shared personal stories of music lessons and their love of singing.
The Hopewell Valley Youth Chorale is comprised of two choirs: the Preparatory Choir (grades 3-5) and the Concert Choir (grades 6-9). The Hopewell Valley Youth Chorale rehearses weekly at The Pennington School. The organization provides boys and girls the opportunity to explore, prepare and perform choral music in an effort in “Bringing Hope Through Song.”
Hopewell Valley Youth Chorale is accepting audition applications for the spring season. To schedule, visit HVYChorale.org or call 609-651-5474.
