Police search for suspect in knife attack

EAST BRUNSWICK — Police are searching for a man who committed an aggravated assault Monday.

The police department was made aware of an assault that occurred on Arthur Street around 12:30 a.m. Feb. 8.

The victim, an East Brunswick resident, reported to the hospital with minor lacerations to his hand, according to a statement prepared by the East Brunswick Police Department.

The victim said he had taken a taxi home after work at approximately 9:30 p.m. Feb. 7, but as he exited the taxi and began to walk toward his house, he was approached from behind by an unknown assailant.

According to the press release, the suspect allegedly grabbed the victim and brandished a knife. The victim reportedly grabbed the knife and began to struggle with the suspect. The victim pushed the suspect away, and they both fell to the ground. The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect was described as a medium skinned male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches and medium build. He was wearing a black ski mask, black pants and a dark colored jacket.
