The Super Bowl is completed while these local athletes came through with super efforts

Calvin Beaty’s 5-0 decision over Adante Davis at 195-pounds paved the way for St. John Vianney’s 30-29 upset over Jackson Memorial in one of the biggest victories in Lancer wrestling history.

Beaty is a returning NJSIAA District 21 champion.

Howell High School wrestler Kris Lindemann (145/152) joined the career 100 wins club during the Rebels sweep of a quad meet in Howell against Lenape Valley (52-12), Sparta’s Pope John XXIII (39-22) and Egg Harbor (52-15).

The senior is the second Rebel to reach the century milestone this year joining teammate Anthony Gagliano (138).

The Rebels’ focus this week is on capturing the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group V championship

 

Colts Neck High School freshman Michael Jannucci was tied at 4-4 in his 170-pound match with Brick Memorial’s Jack Tango when the Cougar hit a pancake move and pinned the Mustang. It was the pivotal victory for the fifth seeded Cougars in what was a toss-up match in Colts Neck’s 42-31 upset of No. 4 Brick Memorial in the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group IV quarterfinals. Brick Memorial was the defending state champion.

Colts Neck traveled to the No. 1 seed ,Jackson Memorial, for the Feb. 10 semi-finals.

Monroe Township High School’s Bridget Bolan was the top scorer at the NJSIAA Central Jersey Girls Bowling Championships rolling a 666 series at Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick. Bolan also had the high game, 279, as she topped Woodbridge’s Tyler Karpinecz’s 665 series by a single pin to win the tournament

Matawan High School’s Samantha Anderson won the 400 (59.39) and 800 (2:20.56) meter races at the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group II Girls’ Indoor Track and Field Championships held  at the Bennett Indoor  Athletic Complex in Toms River.

Jordan Brannan of Colts Neck, completed the 1,600 (4:20.62) and 3,200 (9:31.65) double at the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group III Boys’ Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the Bennett Indoor Athletic Complex in Toms River helping the Cougars win the state sectional championship.

Allentown High School Kali Hartshorn made a trio of three-point shots en route to scoring a game-high 17 points as the Redbirds defeated Hopewell Valley, 53-41, in a Colonia Valley Conference Patriot Division game in Allentown.

The Redbirds improved to 13-5 with the victor.

NyQuan McCombs delivered 18 points and six assists as Mater De Prep beat Ranney, 64-42, in Middletown to clinch no worse that a share of the Shore Conference B Central Division championships.

The Seraphs remained perfect in division play (10-0) and improved to 17-1 overall.
