Trio arrested in Metuchen drug raid

METUCHEN — Following a two-month investigation, a mother, son and another man were charged with drug related offenses and nearly half a pound of marijuana and $4,000 in cash were seized from a residence on Woodbridge Avenue, according to police.

On Feb. 1, Metuchen detectives and patrol officers raided the residence, which concluded two months of  investigation into the alleged illegal sale of marijuana by the three defendants, according to a release by the Metuchen Police Department.

Michael Hunter, 19, was arrested for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute in a school zone, possession of marijuana in an amount over 50 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia, which included packaging materials and a scale, police said.

His mother, Judy Hunter, 56, was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and James Nicholaisen, 19, was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, police said.

Michael Hunter is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center with bail set at $35,000. Both Judy Hunter and Nicholaisen were released on their own recognizance after they were processed, according to police.
