MONTGOMERY — Slick road conditions resulted in five accidents during a one-hour period on Wednesday morning, but no serious injuries were reported, according to the township Police Department.
The series of crashes started with an accident on Province Line Road near High Ridge Road at 7:35 a.m., when a 2000 Ford Explorer driven by George Luciano-Benitez, 19, of Lindenwold, left the roadway and struck several trees before stopping about 50 feet off the roadway in the woods.
Mr. Luciano-Benitez told police that he lost control on a steep incline. Neither the driver nor his passenger was injured. Province Line Road was closed for about 25 minutes while a tow truck pulled the sport utility vehicle back onto the roadway.
Ten minutes later at 7:45 a.m., police were called to Cherry Hill Road near the Waldorf School. Several vehicles were reported to have slid off the road. One of the vehicles — a Chrysler Town and Country minivan — was being driven south on Cherry Hill Road by Rania Ahmed, 36, of Skillman.
Ms. Ahmed reported that she lost control of the minivan on the icy road and it slid off the road and struck a tree head-on. Three children in the minivan, between 7 and 13 years old, suffered minor injuries in the accident. The minivan was towed from the scene.
At about the same time, a Ford Mustang driven by Martin Farricker, 54, of Skillman, was involved in an accident on Cherry Hill Road. He told police that he lost control of his car while traveling down a hill on the icy roadway.
The Mustang left the southbound side of Cherry Hill Road and struck a mailbox, police said. It went back on the street and left the northbound side of the Cherry Hill Road and struck an embankment. Mr. Farricker suffered minor injuries to his hand, but refused medical treatment at the scene.
Cherry Hill Road was closed for about an hour during the crash investigation. The Mustang was towed from the scene, police said.
Police were sent to investigate two accidents at 8:23 a.m., but in different parts of the township.
Juan A. Torres, Jr., 49, of Princeton, was driving a 2013 Volkswagen north on Mountain View Road when he lost control of the car as it entered a curve. It left the roadway and struck an embankment before becoming stuck in a ditch. He was not injured. The car was pulled out of the ditch by a tow truck.
Over on Spring Hill Road, near Viburnum Drive, a 2014 Honda driven by Scott Stallwood, 50, of Flemington, hit a patch of ice and slid off the road. The car struck a traffic sign support and ended up in a ditch. He was not injured, but his car had to be towed from the scene.
