HOPEWELLS: Police investigate burglary, theft at Carter Road construction site 

On Monday, Feb. 1, at 7 a.m. Officer John Ferner was detailed to a construction site on Carter Road on a reported burglary and theft. The victim reported that sometime over the weekend someone had entered into storage bins on the property and stole $1,400 in tools and scrap metal. Detective Frank Tulko is assisting in the investigation.

A 17-year-old boy from Titusville allegedly assaulted two police officers in an incident following a police check of his car in a parking lot on Route 31 near Delaware Avenue on Jan. 29 at 3:56 p.m.
While speaking with the occupants of the suspicious vehicle, police said, Officer Christopher Vaccarino said he smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. While continuing to investigate, he spoke with the 17-year-old. When police detained him, the teen physically resisted Officer Vaccarino, police said.
With assistance from other officers from Hopewell and Pennington Borough, the juvenile was placed under arrest for two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to police headquarters, from where he was processed and released to a family member. His case will be heard in family court.
Both officers who were assaulted were treated by Pennington First Aid Squad for various cuts and scrapes, police said.

On Feb. 9 at 1:04 a.m. Officer Mark Panzano stopped a 2005 Ford for alleged speeding of 61 mph in a 40 mph zone on Route 31 near Titus Mill Road in Hopewell Township.
While speaking to the driver, who was identified as David Morales, 58, of Albrightsville, Pa., the officer said he smelled the odor of marijuana on the driver and in the vehicle. A subsequent search found Mr. Morales to have marijuana and a drug pipe. He was placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters, from where he was processed and released. His case will be heard in municipal court. 
