The Carl W. Goetz Middle School boys basketball team notched its fourth straight 20-win season, going 21-6 overall and finishing 11-3 in the Ocean County league’s Red Division.

A seven-point loss in its second meeting with Toms River Intermediate North cost Goetz a share of the division championship. Ron Bantang, a 6-foot-1 center who was named the team’s Most Valuable Player, and point guard Nicholas Colon, the winner of the team’s Jake McKown Sportsmanship Award, were selected for the league’s All-Star game.
