Juvenile pedestrian struck by vehicle in South Amboy

SOUTH AMBOY – A juvenile female pedestrian suffered minor injuries after being struck by a motor vehicle on Feb. 18.

South Amboy police were dispatched to the intersection of Bordentown Avenue and South Stevens Avenue around 4 p.m.

Police officers began first aid to stabilize the victim, according to a statement prepared by the South Amboy Police Department, while the South Amboy Volunteer First Aid Squad diverted their response from a non-life threatening call to the scene of the accident.

The volunteers assumed care of the victim and transported her to Perth Amboy Hospital.

The girl, whose name is being withheld due to her age, was treated for minor injuries and released into the care of her family, police said.

Police reported that the young girl was crossing Bordentown Avenue in a designated crosswalk when the driver of the vehicle, who was traveling westbound on Bordentown Avenue, said he was unable to see the pedestrian due to sun glare, according to reports.

Motor vehicle summonses are pending, police said.
