Reformed Church Home senior living community, Old Bridge, will host a seminar on March 1 at 6 p.m. for aging veterans and their families. The speakers will be Gary B. Topics include the Aid and Attendance Benefit available to veterans to assist with costs of medical expenses; expected changes to the benefit and why now may be the best time to apply for it; estate planning for the veteran and his/her surviving spouse; and funeral trusts/Medicaid burial trusts. JAR of Hope, a local foundation fighting a very rare fatal disease that only strikes little boys, has signed the second participant in its new Round-Up program for local retailers. Round-Up affords customers the chance to contribute whatever change they receive to a worthy cause. Jackie Barber, the owner of Signarama at Ashley Plaza, Manalapan, has announced that her store will now participate in the Round-Up program to fight against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. JAR of Hope was founded by Jim and Karen Raffone of Manalapan in 2013 after their then 4-year-old son James Anthony was diagnosed with Duchenne. There is no cure for the disease. Approximately 50 physicians from the CentraState Healthcare Partners have joined with Partners In Care Accountable Care Organization to better serve the Medicare community. CentraState Healthcare Partners is a for-profit limited liability company whose members are CentraState Medical Center physicians and select physicians who are on the CentraState medical staff. Turning Point Restaurants will again partner with the Kortney Rose Foundation (KRF) to hold the seventh annual fundraiser “Great Food for a Great Cause” on Feb. 27-28 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at all 11 Turning Point locations, including Manalapan. Guests at Turning Point who donate a minimum of $25 to KRF on either day will receive a Turning Point gift card good for two entrees to be used any time in the future. Last year the event generated more than $51,000 for the KRF, which raises funds for pediatric brain tumor research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
