COLTS NECK – The Colts Neck K-8 School District Board of Education has approved a slate of capital improvement projects.
Work will consist of renovations to the entrances of the Conover Road Primary School, the Conover Road Elementary School and the Cedar Drive Middle School in order to increase security. There will also be renovations made to restrooms at the elementary school and the primary school, according to the board.
“The project (at the school entrances) involves modifying and constructing interior security vestibules to provide for a secure holding area for visitors to be identified and cleared before gaining access to the main office,” Business Administrator Vincent Marasco said.
The improvements are expected to cost $770,000. Administrators will not seek state funding; funds from the capital reserve account will be used. The district anticipates professional fees to run about $60,000.
The firm of Fraytak Veisz Hopkins Duthie, P.C., has been authorized to submit plans for the renovations to the New Jersey Department of Education for approval. The firm may make amendments to the district’s long-range facility plan in accordance with the construction work.
Marasco said the district currently uses a visitor management system similar to LobbyGuard. The security system is operated by McRoberts Protective Agency.
