Kalieta, Zupko earn first-place showings at indoor MOC

Tom Kalieta of Matawan Regional High School and Mike Zupko of Christian Brothers Academy each got a first-place medal and a fourth-place finish at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions (MOC) Feb. 27 at the John Bennett Indoor Athletic Complex in Toms River.

Kalieta won the 200 meters in 22.41 and was fourth in the 400 in 49.87. Kalieta also ran on the 4×400 relay that was 10th in 3:29.50. Brcy Lyew, Jacob Labinger and Charlie Serrano ran the other legs.

Matawan’s Dave Alston was second in the high jump. He was one of three jumpers to reach 6-6 and was placed based on misses.

Zupko won the 400 in 49.35 and ran on the fourth-place 4×400 relay with Tim Jacoutot, Brendan Bodisch and J.P. Merkler that finished in 3:29.26. Brian Dengler was fifth in the 3,200 meters in 9:20.39.
