East Brunswick Public Schools offers a general-education inclusive preschool program open to all 3- and 4-year-olds who reside in East Brunswick. Youngsters must be age 3 by Oct. 31, and not age-eligible for kindergarten (age 5 by Oct. 31) in order to participate in the preschool program beginning in September.
Classes are taught by certified teachers and supported by paraprofessional aides. The program, which provides an inclusive educational environment, is aligned with the New Jersey Preschool Teaching and Learning Expectations, and includes both typically developing and special-needs preschool children.
The tuition-based program is held 2 1/2 hours per day, five days a week, and follows the 10-month school calendar. Morning and afternoon sessions are available. Tuition is not assessed for families eligible for free and reduced-price lunch. Information on eligibility for free and reduced-cost lunch is available on the district website at www.ebnet.org/preschool and at each of the district’s elementary schools. Transportation for the program is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
Applications, which are available at www.ebnet.org/preschool, should be completed and sent to Assistant Superintendent of Student Activities/Services, East Brunswick Public Schools, 760 Route 18, East Brunswick, NJ 08816. All applications must be received by March 4.
A limited number of openings are available. Requests for specific sessions and schools will be considered based on the number of applicants; however, there are no guarantees for parent-requested placements. A lottery drawing will take place in March if the number of applicants exceeds the openings.
