Star of David, Jewish star

MARLBORO – One of the most popular performers and composers in modern Jewish music, Josh Nelson, will bring his message of hope, unity and spirituality to Temple Rodeph Torah’s Rock Shabbat fundraising concert on April 17 at 5 p.m.

This special concert will draw together the community to help raise funds to continue the temple’s Rock Shabbat program. Rock Shabbat is a spiritual service that combines traditional Friday night songs with original rock and roll arrangements, according to a press release.

“The response from our community to our Rock Shabbat program has been amazing,” Cantor Joanna Alexander said. “We have been blessed with having so many great Jewish performers grace our (temple) and helping to raise money to ensure this program continues. Having Josh with us for this special event is sure to make it a truly energizing and moving occasion.”

The fundraising concert will be a show for people of all ages and all religions, according to the press release. Concertgoers should come ready to sing, hum and clap their hands.

Nelson is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter whose work is celebrated and integrated into the repertoire of congregations, camps and communities around the world. He combines his broad range of influences into a musical style that is accessible to all, according to the press release.
