The Holmdel Township Police Department is currently recruiting volunteers to serve on its Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT). Applications are being accepted.
180 Turning Lives Around (180) will conduct an intensive 40-hour mandatory training course for DVRT volunteers from 6-9:30 p.m. April 4-28, each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, in the courtroom at the Hazlet Township Police Department, 255 Middle Road, Hazlet.
Volunteer advocates will work collaboratively with law enforcement to provide confidential support, information and referrals to victims of domestic violence at the Holmdel Township Police Department. Advocates will also discuss safety planning and provide information about obtaining a temporary restraining order.
Volunteers must be age 18 or older, have reliable transportation, possess a valid driver’s license, be willing to serve on an on-call shift basis, participate in an interview process, submit to background investigations and fingerprinting and successfully complete the mandatory training. Bilingual capability is helpful. Prior knowledge of domestic violence is not required.
