Ethel McKnight Elementary School has been celebrating Health Heart Month with its annual “Jump Rope for Heart” fundraiser. The students have been completing various jump rope lessons while learning the importance of living a healthy lifestyle while fighting heart disease. EMK raised more than $9,300 last year and had set a goal of $10,000 for this school year. EMK jumped over that goal, though, by raising more than $14,700 to go toward the American Heart Association. Pictured from left to right are physical education teacher Mr. Devanney; fifth-grader Daniel Desmond, the highest earner with $1,078; second-grader Sar´ah Hemel, most online donations; and physical education teacher and Mr. Batlle.
