Police seek suspect in East Brunswick gas station robbery

EAST BRUNSWICK – Patrol units responded to the Speedway Gas Station, 232 Route 18 north, on the corner of Albert Street, for a report of a strong armed robbery on March 11.

At around 12:07 a.m., police spoke to one of the gas station attendants, who stated that a suspect came up from behind him as he exited the booth. The suspect allegedly punched the attendant in the face, knocked him down to the ground and demanded the victim’s money.  The suspect then removed an undetermined amount of money from the attendant’s pockets and fled south on Route 18 on foot on the northbound side of the highway, according to a statement prepared by the East Brunswick Police Department.

The suspect appeared to be in his late teens and was described as a black male, standing approximately 5 feet and 6 inches, clean shaven with a thin build. He was wearing black sweatpants with a distinguishable white design on them, a black windbreaker or sweatshirt with a hood, light blue sneakers, a black backpack and a partial ski mask that covered his mouth and nose, according to surveillance cameras.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Crispin Farrace of the East Brunswick Police Department’s Investigative Division at 732-390-6990.
