Hobbyists invited to library programs

Two upcoming hobby-related events will be offered at the Old Bridge Public Library Main Branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road.

The library will present a program titled “Sports Collectibles” at 2 p.m. April 2. Guest speaker Michael Osacky, who has appraised world-championship collections and is certified by the National Association of Professional Appraisers (NAPA), will discuss the vintage sports card and memorabilia industry and will provide a free verbal appraisal of vintage sports collectibles (pre-1970 only).

“Turning a Hobby Into a Business” is set for 2 p.m. April 10. Steven Mamakas, founder of Kroozin Productions and director of the Old Bridge Mayor’s Office of Economic Development, will examine how his interest in cars and automotive preservation developed into a successful charity car show business. Mamakas will discuss the topic’s challenges, startup tactics and research, business-plan development and marketing.
