Shrewsbury Chorale to hold rehearsals and auditions

The Shrewsbury Chorale welcomes local singers to Open Rehearsals on March 29 and April 5 from 7:45-10 p.m. Practice is held weekly on Tuesday evenings at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Monmouth County, 1475 W. The Shrewsbury Chorale is a mixed chorus serving audiences in Monmouth County. Performances include three yearly concerts that feature music ranging from classical to popular repertoire. This set of Open Rehearsals will be directed by guest conductor, Neil F. Brown.  Mr. Brown has extensive experience in choral conducting and accompanying in both church and educational settings. He served as an accompanist during the 2010-11 season and conducted the March concert, Remembrances. A new accompanist, John Balme, will also be welcomed. He has taught at several universities. As an opera expert, Mr. Balme has conducted and produced many operas, and has accompanied international opera stars. He also conducts the Brookdale Concordia Chorale.

The Shrewsbury Chorale will begin rehearsing for the third of its three yearly concerts. The singing public is invited to two open rehearsals to learn more. Preparation for opera choruses include the June 14 Gift Gala, The Chorale Goes to the Opera. Scores will be provided and there is no charge.
