WEST WINDSOR — A Cranbury woman suffered serious injuries after her Lexus sport utility vehicle collided nearly head-on into a truck on New Village Road Tuesday night, according to the West Windsor Township Police Department.
Isoline Brown, 60, was nearly ejected through the front windshield of her car, which struck the front wheel area of a box truck driven by Roy Atkinson, 60, of Levittown, Pa., in the accident, which occurred around 6 p.m., said Police Officer Frank Sabatino.
An off-duty West Windsor Township police officer was driving home from work when he saw the accident, Officer Sabatino said. Sgt. Jeff Lai, the off-duty police officer, held Ms. Brown’s head and kept her immobilized until emergency medical technicians arrived.
Ms. Brown was initially unconscious, but regained consciousness, Officer Sabatino said. She did not recall what happened in the accident.
It appeared that Ms. Brown was traveling east on New Village Road when her Lexus crossed the centerline, Officer Sabatino said. Mr. Atkinson tried to swerve out of the way, but Ms. Brown’s vehicle struck the front wheel area of the truck.
Ms. Brown suffered broken bones and Mr. Atkinson suffered rib injuries. Both drivers were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, Officer Sabatino said.
The accident is still under investigation.
