OLD BRIDGE – In an effort to make books easily accessible to a greater number of residents, the Old Bridge Public Library is introducing a pilot “Books by Mail” program to select senior living facilities and homebound residents.

Residents of the Golden Living facility and the Reformed Church Home facility on Route 18 will be able to reserve up to three books at a time through the program.

In addition, Old Bridge residents who are temporarily or permanently homebound or facility-bound may qualify for this program. The books will be mailed to the residents with a three-week loan time and can simply be mailed back together in the reusable bags or can be returned to the library. The postage costs are assumed by the library.

Only books from the Old Bridge Library are eligible for this program; other materials, such as DVDs and CDs, as well as inter-library loan items, are not available to be mailed.

Residents can reserve the materials by calling 732-721-5600, ext, 5012. All program users must have a current Old Bridge Library card.

“This Books by Mail program is another method to achieve our mission of making the library accessible and relevant to all residents,” noted Library Director Nancy Cohen. “It is our desire to eventually expand the program to make it available to a greater number of patrons in the community.”

The library is located at 1 Old Bridge Plaza at the corner of Route 516 and Cottrell Road in the Municipal Center.
