Children’s author will visit Marlboro library

MARLBORO – Children’s author and illustrator Ross Burach will visit the Marlboro Public Library, Wyncrest Road, on April 12 to help celebrate National Library Week.

Burach, a former Manalapan resident, will read his debut picture book, “There’s a Giraffe in My Soup,” which features an assortment of hairy, scary animals that pop out from under the lid at a restaurant.

The book is packed with adorable illustrations and an assortment of animal puns. There will be crafts and activities for youngsters to accompany the story. The event is geared toward children in prekindergarten through third grade.

“There’s a Giraffe in My Soup” is Burach’s first book. The book was selected for the Spring 2016 Kids Indie Next List, a list that is voted on by the operators of the nation’s independent book stores. The author will publish his next books in 2017 and 2018.

Burach is a 1998 graduate of Manalapan High School and holds a degree in fine arts from the University of Massachusetts. Since graduating from college, he has focused on designing characters and backgrounds for animation studios in children’s media.

Registration for the Marlboro library event, which will take place at 1:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., is mandatory. Call 732-536-9406 to register. Books will be available for $15 to benefit the library and Burach will sign copies of the book. Guests are asked to reserve a book when calling to register for the program.
