Kathy Lo Bue, managing director, Glen Eagle Advisors, LLC, will host “Living, Loving and Learning” on April 13 in the St. Robert Bellarmine Parish Center, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township, from 7-9 p.m. The program will focus on the value of taking full responsibility for one’s own thinking, feelings and behavior. This is a light-hearted learning experience. The guest speaker is Rosemarie Poverman, a licensed clinical social worker who prefers the title “clinical edutainer.” The program is free, non–sectarian and open to the community. Turning Point Restaurants raised $57,000 in its seventh annual fundraiser, “Great Food for a Great Cause,” on Feb. 27-28 at all 11 Turning Point locations, including Manalapan. This brings the total amount raised by Turning Point for the Kortney Rose Foundation to more than $182,000. The Kortney Rose Foundation raises funds for pediatric brain tumor research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. KRF was founded by Kristen and Rich Gillette, Oceanport, in memory of their daughter, Kortney, who died from a brain tumor in 2006. “Our staff and patrons’ enthusiastic support of this worthy local cause remains as strong as ever,” said Kirk Ruoff, who, with his wife, Pam, are owners of Turning Point.

CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, has received the Worksite Innovation Award from the American Heart Association (AHA) for improving the well-being of its employees with its innovative Plant-Powered nutrition and lifestyle program. The award recognizes organizations that have implemented effective programs for promoting physical activity in the workplace. CentraState’s Plant-Powered program, which promotes eating a diet rich in whole plant foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes, was offered solely to CentraState employees and their spouses last summer and provided the participants with the education and tools necessary to successfully make lifestyle changes to improve their overall health over the course of 12 weeks. Participants attended classes once a week and discussed their triumphs and challenges, were educated on the week’s topic, had cooking classes, received emails with recipes and tips to help them outside of the classroom, and were given the encouragement and tools needed to make a healthy lifestyle change.

The fourth edition of the Representing Physicians Handbook will include a chapter concerning physician and hospital relationships written by healthcare attorneys Jill Ojserkis and Laura Navarro of Cooper Levenson. Navarro is a resident of Freehold. Published by the American Health Lawyers Association, the handbook is designed to assist attorneys in navigating increasingly complex and ever-changing healthcare laws and regulations. Navarro works with healthcare clients on a full range of needs from medical staff matters to regulatory compliance.

Joseph Xerri, a financial adviser with the East Brunswick branch of Wells Fargo Advisors, has been named First Vice President – Investment Officer. Xerri has served with Wells Fargo Advisors for 21 years and has 29 years of experience in the financial services industry. Xerri holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Brooklyn College. Xerri lives in Freehold with his wife, Connie.

The Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center, Freehold Township, earned five stars in its overall rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Five-Star Quality Rating System, which rates the nation’s skilled nursing facilities on a one- to five-star scale based on the results of onsite surveys to determine their compliance with federal and state regulations during a 12-month period. Facilities are rated on the results of their performance in complying with health care standards, quality measures and staffing. Only the top 10 percent of nursing homes are eligible for the five-star rating. The Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center provides comprehensive short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled-nursing services for adults age 18 and older and seniors.

Letip of Morganville, a local chapter of the world’s largest privately owned professional business leads organization, has announced scholarship opportunities for Freehold Regional High School District seniors. One $500 scholarship and one $100 scholarship will be awarded to eligible seniors, enrolling in an accredited college or university for the fall 2016 semester and pursuing a major in the field of business. Interested seniors should compose an essay of 500 words or less describing their reasons for selecting business as their potential career path, which should include their name and contact information, as well as the institution they desire to attend. Letip of Morganville’s Executive Board will determine the best candidate from all submissions and award the scholarship at a future morning meeting. The top two students selected will be expected to read their essay to the Morganville chapter when the scholarship checks are presented in May.
