Lindsay, who is a junior in the Freehold Regional High School District’s Fine and Performing Arts Academy at Howell High School, will perform in “A Night of Future Broadway Stars” at 7 p.m. April 14 at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, Rumson. Tickets ($20 and $25) are available at BookTix.com or they may be purchased at the door 30 minutes before the show.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will assist young adults through the Asbury Park outreach center of Covenant House New Jersey. Lindsay, who also performed in 2015, will sing “I’m The Greatest Star” from “Funny Girl.”

“I am so lucky to have parents who really support me and do what they can to help me with my future,” said Lindsay, who is the daughter of Steve and Alyssa Cherin, and the sister of Joshua.

Covenant House Development Manager Trish Montini said the Asbury Park outreach center is a drop-in location for young people in Monmouth County who need various types of services, a meal or counseling.

Montini said “A Night of Future Broadway Stars” is about one group of young people helping another group of young people.

“The beauty of it is you have young people who are incredibly busy with school work, other performances and responsibilities that take them in all different directions, and they still manage to find the time and make the time to be of service to others and to give back to the young people who so desperately need them. It is such an affirmation of the goodness of young people when we have close to 100 performers who are giving their time and raising awareness and making the time for young people who are very close in age. It is very impactful when young people are connecting in this way,” Montini said.

Lindsay said, “It really gives these kids a second chance at life. Last year, I was personally able to raise $1,400 and overall they raised over $15,000. Even a small bit of help can make such a difference for these teens and young adults. … They give young people the love and support they need to help get them off the streets and to give them the tools they need to succeed at life. People can make such a difference in the lives of these teens and young adults in need. They are our future.”

“All the young people who take part in the show, every time they send an email to their friends, their family members, their teachers and to all the people in the community, they are letting people know there are young people right in their neighborhood, in Asbury Park, and in Monmouth County who are without homes, without families, and in need of the services of a place like Covenant House. They literally become the voice of the youth of Covenant House,” Montini added.

Lindsay said her goals for the future include studying musical theater in college and pursuing her dream of singing and acting as a career. She said she would like to continue using her talent to support charities for which she can make a difference.
