HILLSBOROUGH: Ex-Jets, Giants expected to suit up for Saturday’s charity basketball

Familiar names from past New York Jets and Giants pro football team are expected to play Saturday night in the benefit Hillsborough Joes vs. NFL Pros game at Hillsborough High School.
Listed on the roster for the game are former Jets running back Kareem Huggins (Hofstra University), Giants fullback Darian Barnes (Hampton University), Jets cornerback Aaron Beasley (West Virginia University) and Giants cornerback Brandon Bing (Rutgers University) and a player on the XLVI Super Bowl champion team in 2012.
Also on the roster are former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Chad Plummer (Cincinnati University), New England Patriots wide receiver Tony Logan (Maryland University), Denver Broncos defensive tackle J’vonne Parker (Rutgers University) and Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Barrett Brooks (Kansas State University), who played in the Super Bowl in 2006.
Pre-purchased tickets will be held at the will call box in the front lobby of the high school gym under the person’s last name. Tickets and wristbands will be given out the night of the event.
VIP tickets, to be sold at $35, include dinner catered by Angelo’s, Jersey Mike’s and Applebee’s and a meet-and-greet with the NFL players and held in the Commons. The VIP session is from 6 to 7 p.m. Doors open at 5:30.
Tickets at the door will cost $15.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Games start at 7.
The evening consists of six mini-games of 8 minutes each. There will be teams of middle school students, high school students, Special Olympians, police and township officials, whose team will consist of Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, Township Clerk Pam Borek, Township Administrator Anthony Ferrera, Townshi Building Inspector John Fielder and Township, and Township Committee members Carl Suraci, Frank DelCore, Doug Tomson, Greg Burchette and Gloria McCauley.
Any child between the ages of 6 and 16 have the opportunity to play on the sixth team. Raffle tickets will be given to any child who is interested. If they bring an item to donate to the Food Bank, they will receive an extra ticket. The raffle will randomly draw from all tickets that have been entered.
There will be a half-time show consisting of the Hillsborough Rockettes and Flair Dance Academy. There will also be a foul shot contest at half-time, with 40 tickets sold at $5 each.
Food, snacks and drinks will be available for purchase in the middle gym.
