SOUTH AMBOY — The late Edmund Paczkowski was known for his expertise in the food business — he had owned and operated the city’s Foodtown on Bordentown Avenue for decades.

But he’s also being credited with the launch of a medical practice across the street just a couple of months before his passing in March.

Dr. Kyle Knoell, DC, MHA, CCSMP, CCIC, said he decided to open his office, CMP Spine and Wellness Center, in the South Amboy Health Center, 540 Bordentown Ave., Suite 4900, in January at Paczkowski’s urging. He said Paczkowski was a good friend who provided encouragement at the right time.

Knoell’s new practice offers a range of services such as chiropractic, acupuncture, chiropractic sports medicine, therapeutic and sports massage therapy and nutrition — a combination that he said is unparalled locally.

“There’s no facility that’s located in South Amboy that actually has all of the amenities that we have,” Knoell said, adding that there are other medical practices, including physical therapy and a surgical center, in the former hospital building that further complement what he offers. The availability of so many services in one location is quite a benefit to patients looking to get care conveniently, he said.

“It’s really a great community type of facility,” he said, adding that he refers patients to other practices in the building and vice versa to ensure they get the care they need. “It’s a dynamite setup.”

Knoell said that after working at medical practices and in hospital administration across Central Jersey, he is happy also to be working in the same town he calls home, and wants to be part of the effort to revitalize South Amboy.

“I’m so positive about that building it’s not even funny,” Knoell said. “It’s good energy in this building.”

He said his own patient philosophy is to treat the whole patient, explaining that the services he offers complement traditional medicine, not replace it. He said he treats everyone from pediatric patients to marathoners to seniors.

He said his practice is growing quickly, and while he plans to focus initially on South Amboy and Sayreville, he plans to expand his services within a year to Perth Amboy and Old Bridge.

“The whole idea is to sort of fast track everything,” he said.

In the meantime, he is finding that patients are willing to travel to him, with some coming from as far away as New York. He said it speaks to the level of care he and his colleagues are able to provide that they are able to draw from so far away.

Knoell’s practice is open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and on weekends by appointment.

Knoell’s website, www.cmpspineandwellness.com, was in the process of being updated as of press time. He can be reached at 732-721-3300.
