SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Police are still investigating an early morning crash on April 16 that claimed the life of a 26-year-old Middlesex County man.

The crash took place on Cranbury-South River Road (Route 535) on the South Brunswick border with Monroe and Cranbury, according to a statement prepared by the South Brunswick Police Department. Police were called at 3:31 a.m. on a report of an overturned vehicle on the front lawn of Consolidated Container Company, which is located on the corner of Cranbury-South River Road and Pleasant Hill Road.

Police, fire and EMS found the 2000 Infiniti G20 on its roof with the driver having been ejected, according to the statement. Paramedics pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety Bureau investigators determined that the Infiniti was headed north on Cranbury-South River Road when it reportedly left the eastern shoulder of the roadway, struck a grass hill, became airborne and overturned, police said. There were no other occupants of the vehicle.

Cranbury-South River Road  was closed for two hours as investigators pieced the scene together. In addition to South Brunswick, Cranbury and Monroe police, the Cranbury First Aid Squad, Cranbury Fire Department, Robert Wood Johnson University paramedics and the Middlesex County Medical Examiners Office responded.
