NORTH BRUNSWICK – The township cheered for a young woman who received accolades for her background in academics and cheerleading.

Erin LaVielle received the Scholar Athlete Artist award from the North Brunswick Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services during the April 4 Township Council meeting.

“Anybody who knows anything about this family knows they’re a wonderful, wonderful North Brunswick family. Very active and involved,” Councilwoman Cathy Nicola said prior to reading the proclamation.

Erin is a junior at North Brunswick Township High School. She is on the high honor roll with a 3.9 GPA.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, PUSH (Prevention Using Student Help) and the DECA marketing club. She recently attended the state competition for DECA.

Erin is also a cheerleader, having spent two years on the high school varsity team, five years with the Stellar All Stars and more than 10 years with the North Brunswick Pop Warner Indians. She is also a volunteer coach with the Indians.

“Thank you to the mayor and council for honoring me with this award, and my family, my friends, my peers, teachers, my coaches, for always motivating me to do my best,” Erin said.
