Talk on acidity levels in ocean slated at college

LINCROFT — Brookdale Community College will host Dr. Matthew Poach at 6:30 p.m. April 25 at Twin Lights Rooms 1 and 2, Warner Student Life Center, 765 Newman Springs Road. The meeting is open to the public.

Poach is a research chemist and supervisor of the Ocean Acidification Laboratory at NOAA in Sandy Hook. He will discuss the problems of increased acidity levels in the ocean, which may be adversely affecting major portions of the marine food chain as well as the commercial fisheries industry.

The meeting will includes the college’s Environmental Club and students, the Jersey Shore (Monmouth) Sierra Group and other environmental organizations. A pizza and subs buffet will precede the meeting at 6 p.m. Parking will be available in lot 7. For more information, visit www.brookdalecc.edu.
