Francis Tulko, a detective in the Township Police Department, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant.
He was sworn to the new position in front an audience of peers, family and friends at the April 11 Township Committee meeting.
Township Police Chief Lance Maloney delivered a brief biography of Sgt. Tulko.
Sgt. Tulko was born and raised in Port Reading and attended Woodbridge High School and Southern Connecticut State University. He attended the Morris County Police Academy, after which he worked as a Hudson County sheriff’s officer from 1997 through 2000.
Sgt. Tulko joined the Hopewell Township Police Department in February 2000 and served as a general duty patrol officer before being assigned to the traffic unit in 2010. He was then assigned to the detective bureau, where he has served since the beginning of 2014.
“Over the years, Frank has been presented with several departmental awards and commendations,” said the chief.
Sgt. Tulko will be assigned to supervise B squad.
Standing with Detective Sgt. Tulko as he was sworn into office was his wife, Karen, and hisDaughters, Ashley and Jenna. Also in attendance was Sgt. Tulko’s father, Frank Tulko, who is a retired Jersey City police detective.
Sgt. Tulko is being compensated at an annual salary $114,777, according to a resolution adopted by the Township Committee.
