Bicycles, sewing machines needed to send overseas

The South Brunswick Education Association’s Pride Committee with hold its annual Pedals for Progress, a used bicycle and sewing machine collection from noon-3 p.m. on May 14, rain or shine, in the gym parking lot of South Brunswick High School, 750 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction.

Adult and children’s bicycles will be sent to Nicaragua, Ghana, Albania, Fiji and Guatemala. Bikes should be rust free. No tricycles will be accepted, but bicycles with flat tires or in need of minor repairs are acceptable.

Portable sewing machines should be in working condition.

A $10 minimum donation with each item is requested to pay for shipping. The South Brunswick Education Association will also donate $1,000 to help offset the shipping costs.
