TINTON FALLS — A former Monmouth Regional High School teacher has been sentenced to five years in state prison.
According to a release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Nicholas DePue of Brick, formerly of Jackson, was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Joseph W. Oxley April 22 to a pair of concurrent five-year terms.
The sentence comes after DePue pleaded guilty in January to two counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, the release said.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, DePue was fired from his position as a teacher at Monmouth Regional following his arrest and the discovery he was carrying on inappropriate relationships with two of his students.
According to the release, upon his release from state prison, DePue will be subject to the provisions of “Megan’s Law” as well as Parole Supervision for Life as part of Judge Oxley’s sentence.
Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Danielle Zanzuccki handled the case.
DePue is represented by attorney William Cunningham of the law firm Starkey, Kelly, Kenneally, Cunningham & Turnbach in Brick Township.
