FARMINGDALE — The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore recently raised more than $175,000 during its annual Women of Distinction and Community Partners Gala held at the Eagle Oaks Country Club.

The April 1 event honored the personal and professional achievements of outstanding local individuals and organizations dedicated to improving the community and embodying the leadership qualities represented by Girl Scouts.

Honorees included this year’s Women of Distinction, Monmouth County Freeholder Lillian Burry, Valerie Montecalvo of Bayshore Recycling, Maria Tanzola of UBS, civic volunteer Betty White and Bertha Williams-Pullen of the Neptune Township School District.

The Community Partner honoree was The Faith & James Knight Foundation, and the Junior Woman of Distinction was Kathy Ann Drake, a Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore girl board representative.

For the first time, the council honored a “Man Enough to be a Girl Scout Member of the Year.” The inaugural honoree was Jim DeAngelis of the Lakewood BlueClaws.
