Local high school students rewarded for being caring

The Middlesex County Guidance Council recently presented Caring Awards to high school students at a dinner held at Middlesex County College in April.

The Caring Award, given to one student from each high school in the county, is for outstanding volunteer community service.

The local recipients include Rabeya Hussaini of Colonia High School; Alyssa Royce of Edison High School: Katrina McCarthy of Bishop George Ahr High School in Edison; Renu Nargund of East Brunswick High School; Abryanna Hernandez of Sayreville War Memorial High School; Harshini Malli of Monroe High School; Amber Rizzi of Old Bridge High School; Brooke Sutton of Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison; Thayna Horta of South River High School; Taslim Soomar of Middlesex Academy High School in Edison;

Haley Carlton of Spotswood High School; Dana Madden of South Brunswick High School; Amanda Fiore of JFK Memorial High School in Iselin; Dylan Johnson of East Brunswick Vo-Tech; Tara Lenahan of South Amboy High School; Akshat Mehta of J. P. Stevens High School in Edison; Tyler Soos of the Academy of Allied Health in Woodbridge; Alexander Brooks of Metuchen High School; Matthew Scull of St. Joseph’s High School in Metuchen; and Robert Bognar of Woodbridge High School.
