HILLSBOROUGH: Charity to benefit from laps on track on Sunday

Walkers and runners of all shapes and speeds are invited to log a few laps on the Hillsborough High School track Sunday as a way to show support for people in the community facing a medical crisis.
To participate in “100 Laps of Healing,” all people have to do is show up at the track between 7 a.m. and noon, sign a short waiver and start walking or running. When finished, participants will log in their lap. Sponsors are donating for every lap the community completes. (Additional donations are welcomed.)
Hillsborough postman Bill Mather will lead the way when he by pledging to run 100 “laps of healing. He actually will go for 105 laps, which will be the equivalent of a full marathon of 26.2 miles.
Mr. Mather said he hopes the day can beat the 2015 mark of a total of 5,459 laps.
Refreshments will be supplied. There’ll be music and entertainment through the morning, and other activities like face painting, temporary tattoos, ponytails braids and washout color, too.
The event raises awareness and funs for Steps Together, a Hillsborough-based non-profit that helps families with ongoing stresses, primarily from medical problems.
