NORTH BRUNSWICK — Two police officers are being credited with saving the life of a person who was trying to do harm.
Around 7:40 p.m. on April 27, officers responded to a vehicle accident with possible fire on Renaissance Boulevard. The initial officer to arrive observed heavy smoke from the car and believed it to be on fire, according to information provided by the North Brunswick Police Department.
The officer approached the car and found the driver to still be inside the car, reportedly refusing to respond to the officer. When the driver refused to respond to any commands, the officer was forced to smash the window and forcibly remove the driver, police said.
It was later learned that the collision and the refusal to communicate was all an alleged attempt by the driver to do personal harm. The driver was transported to the hospital for the necessary attention, police said.
Officers William Trammell and Officer Tim Riley are credited with saving the driver.
