EATONTOWN — The Monmouth County Genealogy Society will meet 1:30 p.m. May 15 at the Community Center, 72 Broad St., Eatontown. The guest speaker will be author and genealogist Maureen Wlodaczyk, who will present “Genealogy: It’s Not a Tree or a Chart, It’s a Story.” The presentation is free.

Wlodaczyk will explain how to breathe life into one’s family tree and share her ideas of how to take a family tree chart and layer on historical context to enrich and give dimension to family stories.

Beyond researching and writing about her own family history, she searches for true stories of people and events lost to time, rediscovering and sharing those tales through her books, magazine articles and presentations to genealogical and historical groups. She currently writes a genealogy column and is a contributing writer for a magazine.

The Monmouth County Genealogy Society is based in Lincroft. For more information, visit http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~njmcgs.
