Holiday Express thanks volunteers during Appreciation Night

Music notes

TINTON FALLS — More than 100 Holiday Express volunteers sipped wine, sampled cheese and socialized at the nonprofit group’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Night, which was recently held at the organization’s warehouse.

In honor of National Volunteer Week, the legion of volunteers who donate their time and talents to Holiday Express each season were thanked at the April 21 event.

“Holiday Express has 2,000 volunteers who donated more than 15,000 hours of their time last year to make the season happen. With only four full-time staff members, Holiday Express would not exist without the dedication of our faithful volunteers. This year we will rely on our volunteers more than ever as we set out to visit a record-setting 90 locations,“ said Executive Director Lorrie Klaric in a press release.

Established by Tim McLoone in 1993, Holiday Express is comprised of 1,600 volunteers, including 150 professional rock, jazz, folk, gospel and pop musicians, and delivers music, food, gifts, financial support and friendship to those with the greatest need.
