Arthritis Foundation’s Walk to Cure Arthritis May 14 at MetLife

EAST RUTHERFORD –Over 2,000 runners and walkers will be on hand at the 2016 Walk to Cure Arthritis on Saturday, May 14, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford to help support the Arthritis Foundation.

Their mission to cure arthritis and make it easier for people living with the disease to achieve everyday victories. As the Arthritis Foundation’s signature national fundraising event, the Walk to Cure Arthritis brings together communities to fight arthritis, the nation’s leading cause of disability.

The Walk to Cure Arthritis will serve as the opening event for the NBC4 and Telemundo47 Health and Fitness Expo, presented by Quest Diagnostics at MetLife Stadium. Walk and Expo attendees will walk the 50-yard line at MetLife Stadium, watch a healthy cooking demonstration, tour the locker room of the New York Giants, practice yoga and meet players from the Giants such as former punter Steve Weatherford, who will lead the Walk and the opening program. His passion for football and fitness is equally matched by his passion for charity work. Giants star wide receiver Victor Cruz is also scheduled to appear to thank top Walk to Cure Arthritis fundraisers in the VIP area at the event.

In the U.S. alone, more than 50 million adults and 300,000 children live with arthritis. Costing the U.S. economy $156 billion dollars a year, arthritis affects one in five Americans and causes more activity limitation than heart disease, cancer or diabetes. The New Jersey Walk to Cure Arthritis will help those living with arthritis by supporting programs, research and advocacy initiatives as well as fund crucial research aimed at finding a cure for the disease.

“Arthritis is more than just a few minor aches and pains. It’s a debilitating disease that robs people of their dreams,” says Medical Honoree, Dr. Yukiko Kimura. “When you support Walk to Cure Arthritis, you become a Champion of Yes. Whether you are close to the disease or looking for an inspiring charity event that truly makes a difference, Walk to Cure Arthritis is a great way to experience the power of standing together and giving back to the community. Together, New Jersey can Walk to Cure Arthritis and help us reach our goal of raising $325,000 to help find a cure for this disease.”
